The pinched, sqiushed, close-but-no-cigar pillars. I don't know what to call them.

Cause all the other designs were taken.

That's a C pillar.

Safety bullshit. Safer to flip than to see what's in your blind spot according to the idiots in government.

How about 'birth canal pillars'?

It's just covered in black plastic or glass. There's still a C pillar there.

They're called "you'll need a rear view camera to see what's behind me and good luck checking those blind spots" pillars. So ywnarvctswibmaglctbs pillars.

Where "C" here apparently means "cleft palate".

Y'know who does it right?

I hate this design trend. Maybe the designers are relying on tech(blind spot/reverse cams) to get around the fact you can't see out of the back of these cars?

Fauxtresses? A portmanteau (yes, I have random words like that in my head, just like the horsepower ratings of most 60's Mustangs) of faux and flying buttress. Looks good on the IDX, the other cars, not so much.
Pillars of Samson, or maybe Samson Pillars? (He was blind, tied to pillars, it's a blind spot and a pillar).

The "floating roof" thing comes and goes.
I have to say, if the roof has to float, I would prefer that it be swept back from the A-pillar, like some of these...
Rather than swept forward like these.

Looks fine on the id-x and i8.
